When you talk about autodialers the first question to ask is are you wanting a fully automated dialer that sends out a prerecorded messsge or are you wanting to have the dialer that just dials the number and then passes it to a live telemarketer?

Autodialers Unassisted Messages

You can make fully automated calls whereby you record a message, load up a list of telephone numbers and have them dialled by a computer. This a great way to find sales leads. The autodialer makes thousands of calls and those interested in your product or service press a key to either indicate they are interested or to be transferred to speak to you personally. Autodialers Assisted Messages

On the other hand you may want to speak with the person that is dialled rather than just having a pre-recorded voice message played to the person. In this scenario you still load in your telephone numbers but a dialer places the call ready for you to take over. Here the autodialer is assisting a live person who will speak the script message. Types Of Autodialers

Lets talk about the various types of dialing.

The first is Manual Dialing, which is when you are working without call center software and dialing by hand

Then you have Preview Dialing, this is when the lead is displayed on the screen in a preview mode so you can preview the lead before you dial and then you can dial using the call center software.

Demand Dialing is similar to preview dialing except as soon as the telemarketers gets the lead it starts dialing and the telemarketer can read the lead while its dialing. In preview dialing and demand dialing the dialing takes place at the tlemarketers computer.

And then you have Predictive Dialers.
Predictive Dialing is when you have a centralized dialer that automatically makes a large number of calls and when it finds someone answering the phone it transfers it to a telemarketer if one is available.
One of the problems with predictive dialers is if there are no available telemarketers the call gets dropped. This means if you have less than a dozen or so telemarketers you run the risk of dropping too many calls.

Predictive Dialers

It is easy to be of the impression that if you want an autodialer type product for a call center then you are wanting a predictive dialer however often a predictive dialer may not be the best solution for you, in fact in some countries predictive dialers are illegal.

So what might be better than a predictive dialer and what do call centers use in counties where predictive dialers are illegal?

In many cases preview dialer will be more suitable than a predictive dialer. CallAssist and TeamMax are examples of preview dialers although they could also be referred to as demand dialers.
